Planning Tips For Destination Weddings Mexico

By Ann Snyder

If you are getting married you may have thought about the many different options available. You may have considered having a large ceremony and reception but may feel that this style does not suit you or your future spouse. If you are thinking about finding ways to plan a smaller, more intimate gathering, you may want to consider one of the many destination weddings Mexico that are available. Here is how to ensure you end up with a beautiful and memorable celebration.

Long distances can make planning anything more difficult. This is especially true if you are in a place like Alberta, Canada and trying to put together an event in a different country. You should consider making a trip down at some point in the planning process. Alternatively, you could always opt to wed at a resort you have visited previously and are familiar with. This can help you ensure you know what a property is like before you start booking and paying out deposits.

One reason why Mexico is so popular with couples is how much choice there is in terms of ceremony sites and reception sites. If you want to have an all-inclusive experience you may want to think about a resort instead of a stand-alone site. You may find that you can get a complete wedding package for a reasonable amount.

Keep in mind that you will need to limit your guest list. You also need to remember that there may be some guests that will be unable to attend due to the cost of travel and accommodations. If you want to keep costs at a more reasonable level you may want to look at planning your celebration outside of the tourist high season. It will often cost less to travel and stay if you choose an off-season date to be wed.

The clothes that you wear may be very different than if you were marrying at home. You may want to look at dresses that are made of light, flowing fabric. These will usually look better on a beach and be more comfortable to wear in hot weather. They may also be able to be packed easier and may not take up as much room in your suitcase as a large gown would. Attendants will often look more appropriate if they wear more tropical fabric and colors.

A planner or consultant is definitely an asset when you are planning a destination wedding. You may want to use someone who is employed by the resort if that is your location. You may find it more affordable and achieve more reliable results if you work with the florists, caterers and other service providers that normally provide services to the resort as well. There may be surcharges you will need to factor in if you use your own service providers.

Making the ceremony personal for your guests does not need to be difficult. If you are planning to give your guests gift baskets or favors you may want to describe why you chose your ceremony and reception site. You may also want to place baskets in their rooms with toiletries or other items as a way of welcoming them to the resort.

You may want to think about planning some group activities. Touring the surrounding country side, having food or alcohol tastings or other group activities can help keep your guests connected and excited about your event. You should also let your guests have time to relax on their own. Keep in mind that this is likely a vacation for many of them as well as a chance to watch you get married.
