Going On Hoonah Bear Viewing

By Janine Hughes

The unrestrained, wandering and big bears are perhaps the ultimate symbol of the wildlife in Alaska. It is undeniably a once in a lifetime and extraordinary experience to see these animals even for a short while. National parks are also considered homes of these animals. Nevertheless, it is truly a different thing to travel to the southeast region of Alaska and see these creatures clearly.

It is not just a unique, but intimate encounter at the same time. It is no longer surprising to know that this experience is as exciting as the safari tours conducted Africa. Taking part in Hoonah bear viewing is a rare chance for individuals including photographers to have a close encounter with these animals and other Alaskan animals including the several species of wolves, otters, birds and foxes in their regular surroundings.

There are different options offered to access remote Alaska regions that are considered excellent for this experience such as small airplanes and boats. This is the reason that the tours like this became popular. People are awaited by wonderful views of the majestic Alaskan landscapes, volcanoes, glaciers and coastline. The overall experience will be made even more wonderful with these views and worth their while of course.

The start of June is the perfect time for the tours until the second week of September as Alaska is coldest at this time. Before June and July ends, they can be seen in lakes and waterfalls. These are perfect settings for them to catch plump young salmon as part of their pre-hibernation. The hillsides are suitable places for them to play and feed themselves on their own because there are juicy and sweet berries in these areas.

As a guest, you have to bear in mind that there are numerous rules you have to follow because you are in the habitat of such creatures. The open set up will give you the chance to see clearly how curious as well as intelligent they are.

Viewers should remain clam and still especially when the time comes that the bears might approach them out of curiosity. As long as the behavior of these people is predictable, these creatures will not attack and become aggressive. Of course, to make sure that these people are safe, trained guides will be there with them.

In order for individuals to have more knowledge about the culture of the said creatures, the tours are often conducted from 5 to 10 hours. It is a perfect time for them to see how the bears behave and a new behavior might just be discovered. Bears often ignore visitors and carry on with their daily routines.

The presence of human beings is something that bears are already well accustomed to. The wealthy wildlife of Alaska will add much more excitement to the whole experience including the gorgeous views of the mountains, ice fields, beaches and lakes. The unique wildlife and the scenic views of Alaska are proof that an outdoor adventure awaits interested individuals in addition to this country's very colorful culture and history.
