Common Etiquette For Crewed Yacht Charter

By Freida Michael

While going for a cruise, you have to expect that you will be dealing with crew members. When you do, be sure to stay polite with them. You must provide them with the respect that they are due. If you want to experience a good cruise, here are the etiquette you have to note when on board a yacht charter Oxnard.

First, you have to let them know that you have arrived. When they know that you are their clients for the day, they can greet you. Of course, be polite and ask them for their permission to board the boat before you actually do so. Even if they were the ones to greet you first, asking permission is the least you can do.

When you are wearing street shoes, you better remove them before you board the boat. There should be dedicated shoe baskets where you can place your street shoes. Wearing the street shoes on the boat will not only dirty the deck, it can also cause holes and such. You can go barefoot or with clean socks or slippers when on the boat.

There will always be a pre-departure safety briefing before you start the cruise. It is imperative that you listen to the pre-departure safety briefing. Whatever you know from the said briefing can help you handle any situation that come during a cruise. You must follow the rules since they are what will keep you comfortable.

When boarding, the crew will teach you how to handle the boat's basic systems. This is so that the times you have to disturb their daily work just for such reasons will be minimized. When it comes to the boat's basic system, they can include the electrical outlets, water and showers, lights, toilets, and the likes.

It should be okay to charter kids when on the cruise. However, that does not mean that you can leave the kids to the crew. Do not treat the latter as babysitters. This is not a part of their job, after all. Remember that the crew members have their main job. They do not have the time to watch over your children. However, the crew should be kid-friendly so it should be okay.

Community spaces are common in boats. That is why it is highly recommended to pay attention to your belongings when in these community spaces. If you must bring your stuff, like hats, towels, toiletries, sunglasses, and clothing, to these community spaces, better put the in day packs. The community spaces are the main living space and saloon.

In a cruise, the one who determines the law would be the captain. Anything the captain says is law. If the captain says that it would be impossible to go through with a cruise because of the adverse weather or because there is a time constraint, then you better listen to what the captain says. This is for your safety.

The guests will usually be given the chance to dine ashore for at least one night. You should also treat the captain and crew to that. This can be optional though but know that the captain and crew will surely appreciate this gesture.
