You can choose from a variety of ball sports these days if you want to participate in a competitive team sports. You can play Oakville volleyball then. This is the game where, technically, the team that does not let the ball touch the ground wins. Every team member must work together to achieve that goal.

When you plan to participate in the said sport, then the first thing you have to do is know the rules and positions for it. There are various positions that must be filled to have a decent team, after all. These positions help with making the team stronger. Here are the basic positions everyone should know about then.

Outside hitter. You need an outside hitter to do the attacks for the team. The position requires the players to hit from their own strong corner. For the ones who are right-handed, then they have stronger corners at the court's front left. When they are left-handed players, then their corner is at their front right.

You can also be a middle blocker in the said sport. Usually, the ones who are given the position of middle blocker are those who have height as their weapon. The tallest members are given this task since they are the ones given the responsibility to block off their opponent's hits. Double blocks and even triple blocks are common in the game.

Setters are also important to the team. This particular position is the one position that allows player to set up plays to make a point. It is basically a position meant for a play maker. The setter will be the ones assisting spikers when it comes to making attacks and hitting the ball over the net to gain the team points.

Spikers. They are the ones who will be attacking the opponent. They can do a simple hit, synchronized attack, or just a full power spike just to get a score off of their opponents. For the spikers, they aim to hit the ball with full power so that it can go through the opponent's block and score a point.

Libero is a position that is mostly filled by short players, although it does not necessarily mean that only short players can play as libero. The libero position is filled by those players who are good at receives. They have the responsibility of connecting one attack to another, preventing the ball from hitting their home court.

Pinch server is also a position that is necessary to make the team stronger. For a pinch server, he or she will be put on the court in exchange for the player currently in charge for the serve. His or her job is to try and turn the tides around with a service ace. A pinch server is the person who is strong at serves.
