The Best Machu Picchu Galapagos Packages

By Mayra Pierce

The popularity of South America has rocketed in recent years. After decades of political problems the region has become settled and has seen a massive increase in visitor numbers. It is a unique place full of mystery, incredible wildlife and unchanged cultures. As a result finding Machu Picchu Galapagos packages is easier than ever.

Peru and Ecuador have both changed immensely in the last two decades. Infrastructure is now of a good quality and is constantly improving. Internal flights are available between all major tourist attractions and good quality cars will transport you around the local areas. Travel agencies employ excellent local guides who know the history, language and culture of the country and can ensure passengers have everything they need.

Hotels and accommodation are of an excellent standard in Ecuador and Peru. Many international hotel chains now have good quality properties and there are lots of boutique options too. In the cities it is lovely to stay in old colonial properties with original features and modern amenities.

Sailing around the Galapagos islands will always be a real treat but make sure you get the type of boat you want. They range in size from large, with over one hundred passengers, to small with just a few cabins. Larger boats mean larger groups when you disembark for trips to see the animals. Most of the boats visit the same islands so it really is about group size.

As well as land tours most boats offer snorkelling too. This is a fantastic part of any trip to the Galapagos as the marine life is incredible. Where else can you get up close to a penguin while swimming? Depending on the time of year there are also pods of dolphins, sharks and whales. The sea lions are always around and ready to have some fun.

Machu Picchu is so beautiful it is almost surreal. Whoever decided to build a citadel in that spot really knew what they were doing. Just as the high Andes start to descend to the jungle it is draped over a mountain with a view of everything. The ruins themselves are special, with incredible design and architecture but the location is truly stunning.

To get to Machu Picchu visitors must first travel to Cusco. This is an experience in itself as the city is a wonderful and often incongruous mixture of ancient indigenous culture and modernity. From Cusco it is a short journey through the Sacred valley, lined with snow capped peaks, to reach the Inka ruins. Most people do this by train but it is also possible to hike there following the Inka trail.

South America has really improved its image as a tourist destination. There are top class hotels, first class transport and wonderful restaurants for those seeking a luxurious holiday. Visiting some of the worlds top attractions is easier than ever with online agencies ready to tailor a trip to your taste.
