Traveling a snowy path is a very dangerous thing to do. There are a lot of things that could happen on that mountain. Without the proper equipment and preparation, various accidents may happen during a planed trip with friends or a vacation with a bunch members of the family. The things that could happen in mountain is it could have avalanches and such.

Due to this, traveling and as well as starting a rescue, is a rather hard task. Thanks to development of having snow mobiles, the process has become much easier to perform. Traveling through the wintery forest became easier to traverse through.

The history of creating a winter mobiles comes from multiple combinations. It uses tracks that could hold on to slippery ice as well skis that gives it great maneuverability in unpredictable surroundings. Many prototypes were made and each of them were popular in rural villages that had problems with mail services because of weather they had.

The challenged posed by cross country transportation during the winter eventually led to innovation of snowmobile. The vehicle is designed to be all terrain and to specifically transverse over ice that hindered other normal ones that tried to go into harsh winter conditions. The coming of 20th century saw the machines evolve through multiple advancements.

Soon enough the vehicles were modified to enable the carrying of two people possible. Multiple parts were added to prototypes that engineers had in mind. A gas powered engine was added along with two person tracks to allow two sleds to be carried at the same time. The design process also went in the direction that these vehicles should be able to travel on all terrains.

Its origins can be traced way back. Its innovation can not be attributed to a single inventor but it is a process of advances in engine technology from the propulsion to supporting vessels to go over snow. It shows several parallels to how the development for automobiles and aviation went same way in terms of how they came to be.

People who lived in Wisconsin began to experimenting on prototypes that could go over the harsh winters. Beginning with converting rear tractor treads and putting some skis at the front. Another prototypes was made during 1920, were a two cylinder motorcycle engine placed into a long sled. It used to steer with skis up front and is propelled by a single, endless tracks.

American Motor Sleigh was introduced by companies in Boston in early 1905. The mobile was designed to travel on Bostons winters. But a problem with it was that it was slow and small, becoming identified as a novelty item instead of a proper vessel for travel. Despite its interesting designs, the product was discontinued from sales because of how it failed in the market.

1909 saw Russians produce the Aerosani. This was predominately used by the soviets against the Germans during world war two. It was also convenient for Russia had cold environment and its thudras were harsh. Many have debated calling this one as an snowmobile though, as it does not uses treads to travel.
