By Kimberly Nelson

When you say summer or break, it is always about spending a day at the beach or going somewhere calm where you can relax and enjoy after a stressful days, weeks, or months that you had. You can head out to the beach to catch waves in the ocean or cruise outside of the surf zone. You can also do work out by doing a fast paddle.

Since the aforementioned activities involves a board, choosing the right one is the first step to have a wonderful paddling or surfing experience. If you got one just like the paddle board Maui you probably make a good decision. Apart from enjoying the waves of the beautiful ocean or the peace brought about by the lakes, you can also get a work out.

There are five kinds of boards. The first three are SUP while the other two are regular boards. Take note that SUP means stand up paddle boards, which will be focused in this article. These include surfing, touring, and inflatable. The other two are the racing and yoga boards.

To have a best choice of SUP, you must have a knowledge on its types. It is very important to note of the varied functions each kind has. That board may be appropriate for this activity but not for the other activity. That may be suitable or unsuitable for your preferences.

The first type is the surf SUP. As the name implies, this board is intended for surfing activities and high performance turns. Due to the low level of its stability is only made for the ocean waves. In other words, this not ideal for those who want to paddle in long distances for this is short, narrow, and very light.

A touring SUP is typically much longer and wider in terms of structure and is much heavier. Its nose is pointed. Because of its size and greater volume, you can be sure of its stability unlike the wave boards. If you want to spend your precious leisure time paddling a calm lake on a beautiful day or if you are doing this for the first time, having this is a fantastic deal.

The last type is no other than the inflatable. Some paddlers rent a room or space in apartments or have cars or vehicles that are used transport large boards. Sometimes, they can be a hassle since they take up space. If you are one of those people, this SUP will make a perfect sense for you. They are much lighter and more convenient. However, you have to endure the stiffness of a regular board, making paddling in a river challenging but manageable in light conditions.

The hull or body of an SUP is a key determinant as to how it functions or how it performs in an ocean, river, or lake alike. Whatever activity like surfing or paddling that you are planning to do will be one of the basis in making the best type. The storage and its portability or transportation are also the bases when you are prompted to choose between inflatable or solid one.

To be sure of a safe paddling experience, choose a board with capacity that is right for your weight and height. Doing so can ensure you of a good stability. Consider also its length, thickness and width as these play a big role in determining its performance. After checking on to these aspects, you may also take into consideration the accessories or other parts that may work for you and the board.
