Finding Costa Rica Beach Resorts To Visit

By Jennifer Fisher

Lots of people take what is known as a staycation, where you take time off work and do not travel to go anywhere. While those can be fun, traveling out of the country is even better. Costa Rica beach resorts are a great destination due to the sun, surf and hospitality. There is something for everyone too, no matter how big your family is.

One of the great things about Costa Rica is that it is situated between two large bodies of water, both of which have the clean, blue and green waters you see on postcards. It is situated in such a way as to keep temperatures temperate, so it is never too hot or too cold. So you could travel there, even in summer, without worrying about stifling heat.

The country is dotted with resorts and hotels that can give you a basic or full, pampering experience, depending on what you desire. The amount and type of amenities may vary, but if you choose the right resort you can get just about anything. Pools are one amenity that pretty much every place has. Some have private plunge pools in larger rooms, while still offering big public pools that everyone can use for swimming and tanning.

There are lounges and bars in every hotel, where you can order alcoholic or nonalcoholic beverages for those who do not like to drink. You can imbibe indoors in the air conditioning, or enjoy a cold one outside near the pool or even near the ocean if a bar or waiter is available.

There is likely at least one restaurant to eat at within the hotel. Many larger properties have multiple restaurants to eat at. Some are buffet style, while others may have regular sit down service with wait staff. Some even have themes, and most feature at least some local dishes and delicacies so you can get a true taste of the locale.

While there may be multiple swimming pools on the property, there is also the ocean nearby. In some cases, it is just a hope skip and a jump away from your room. Many places offer free lounge chairs right on the sand, and possibly even a towel service so you always have a fresh, dry one on hand. Some even allow you to order drinks and food on the sand. They might even have private cabanas for families and groups.

If you get tired of the beach or just want to try something new, there are plenty of excursions you can take into town to whet your appetite for adventure. Try a sightseeing tour to get a sense of the culture and history, or maybe a culinary tour to eat lots of local foods. You can also see the population of howler monkeys, which is a hit with kids. Even the exotic bird population is a huge attraction.

After your daily activities are done, you may want to return to your room for a nap. Though a basic room with a bed and small balcony may suit you, if you want to go all out, some places offer a full size villa with kitchen and private pool. Whichever you choose, you will make memories that last a lifetime.
