By Edward Green

There are so many lovely destinations in Europe that one can travel to. However, France has always stood out as one of the top spots. A self catering holiday France is a good way of exploring the country and feeling like a local. You can decide on what you want to do and where you want to go. You are not tied down to a schedule, as you would be at a hotel.

In saying that, it is important to plan the trip because this is the way that you are going to get the most out of it. You have to decide where in France you are going to go, according to who you are going with and what you want to do. There may be a famous attraction, festival or sporting event on that you want to see.

You can also think of combining different areas which are close together. France can be tricky to get around for one point to another, so you have to hire a car. You can also take the train, but you can't get to all of these parts on public transport. Cars are not expensive to hire and they are all new, so you will have no trouble at all.

More folks just enjoy organizing the trip themselves. In the past, people liked to stay in luxury hotels and guesthouses. However, this has become expensive and you had to be in the restaurant at a certain time. When you cater for yourself, you will also find that you are able to live like a local yourself in one of the villages. If you have a look online you will find that there are so many possibilities in terms of rentals. Some are more commercial. Some are let out by folks who are living in the United Kingdom, for example. You will communicate with them, but you won't see them. Usually you will pick up the key from someone.

When planning your trip, it is important to know when you are going and with who your are going with. It is also important to focus on the part of France and to build up a little itinerary. In some cases, you will have to do more planning, such as with the Tour de France. There will be a lot of people here, so you really want this to go smoothly.

The beauty of self catering is that you feel like a french person yourself. You can wake up early and go and get yourself a croissant. Later on you can go to a market and find yourself a couple of local goods which you can take home and make yourself. Some of the foods in the supermarket you may not have seen before, and this is something special.

Some of these places that you find are huge and others are more intimate. You may like to rent a big villa out for friends and family. This is a nice thing to do should you be having a reunion or a get together. Many people do this.

You also have to plan for the Tour de France because some roads will be blocked off. You have to know how to get from one area to the next. With a trip like this, you have to basically plan your whole itinerary day by day.
