Enjoy A Day At The Races With NASCAR Las Vegas Travel Packages

By Claudine Hodges

Las Vegas Motor Speedway has played host to millions of stock car fans since it opened its gate in 1988. Every year, race fans flock to this 1.5-mile speedway in the Southern Nevada desert to cheer on their favorite drivers. Many companies offer affordable NASCAR Las Vegas travel packages allowing fans to stretch their entertainment dollars.

Fans traveling to Vegas have the opportunity to watch their favorite sport in a city that just happens to be a popular vacation destination for travelers from all around the world. During March, the speedway plays host to NASCAR's elite divisions. In September, the sanctioning body's Truck Series holds its annual race. Regardless of when they choose to visit, fans have plenty to keep them busy while in town.

The March races draw capacity crowds who are eager to see Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr, Jimmie Johnson and the sport's other biggest stars. The Truck Series drivers are less well known but no less talented. Fans traveling to Vegas for the September event will find a little more room to spread out and a smaller crowd to deal with at the track.

Race fans arriving from out of state will want to select a package that includes a round trip flight to McCarran International Airport. The airport's location offers easy access to major freeways and is just a few minutes from the world famous Strip. Limousines, taxicabs, buses and other public transportation options are located just steps away from the baggage claim area of the terminal. All car rental companies do business out of a facility adjacent to the airport and provide free transportation for customers.

Guests can find motel rooms to fit any size budget depending on location. Off-strip hotels have slightly less expensive rates and offer discounts for extended stays. The large casinos have rooms and hotel suites available in all price ranges.

Race fans have the option of attending all three days of race activities in March. The schedule includes several practice sessions, qualifying and two races. Travel packages often include tickets for the track. Reserved seats in the grandstands along the front stretch offer the best views of the track. For a VIP experience, fans can purchase a package that includes tickets to sit in a luxury suite.

The Neon Garage is one aspect that makes the speedway unique among others on the NASCAR circuit. This is a special area inside the track where fans can observe the race crews working on their vehicles through large glass windows. No other race track allows fans to be so close to the action throughout the race weekend. Special activities inside the Neon Garage throughout the weekend include live music performances and autograph sessions with the drivers.

While in Vegas, many fans choose to go sightseeing, visit the Grand Canyon, or explore other entertainment options when they are away from the race track. Travel coordinators can put together special packages that include tickets to shows, concerts, and local attractions. Visitors who want to enjoy the nightlife can book dinner reservations, rent a limousine, or go to one of the city's many popular nightclubs.
